The beginning

This is a blog of an aspiring photographer. I'll post photos and different events I'm beginning to do and I look forward to seeing how the images progress over time.

Right now I'm working on a few projects and gearing up for my first major shoot. It's looking like I'll be the photographer for Regent University's Graduate School of Divinity's hooding ceremony! Wow... Any tips are more than welcome.

Hi Kelly,

My name is Spyro, originally from Greece but for the last 3 years living in Melbourne, Australia.
The reason for the post is that I had a look at your photos from weddings, the beach, the surfboards and the everyday life of yours and it reminded me a lot of my own wedding and my life in Melbourne, and it gave me a lot of inspiration.
You see, I've been away from photography since I was a student 10 years ago, when I was frantically shooting rolls and rolls of film with my old Canon EOS 100, purchased second hand in Athens, Greece.
Then the corporate world claimed me and that was the end of it...
I don't know what triggerred it exactly but I've spent the last week researching all this new gear on the internet, getting more and more into it and eventually trying to figure out exactly what I need and most importantly, what I want!
But I was daunted by all these new things out there eg I have no clue what is a good body or lens nowadays!
I also had all these doubts on my mind, do I really want to spend all that money, do I even remember the basics, will I have time to even use it, learn about photoshop etc... Is it all worth it? Is this my version of a fast car during a mid-life crisis?... :)
I was starting to get disappointed and I was seriously about to drop it.
But then I stumbled on your website accidentaly while looking for a lens kit on ebay and your work gave me that wonderful feeling, that I could see the world through a lens again, you know what I'm talking about!
And it was a world so similar to mine, and it looked so warm and inviting and beautiful that it really moved me!
Now it's all clear again, this is what I want to do and there's no stopping me!
I don't know if I will ever be able to do what you did and drop my corporate job but it doesn't even matter, I want a bit of that magic in my life...
So I guess this is really a thank you note, you've done a lot of good without even knowing it!
So thank you for the magic babe and all the best, keep it up!

If ever in Oz, let us know
Cheers,
Spyro
